GENERAL

Much Marcle is a rarely used site.  It is recommended that you post on the Malvern Flyers or the Malvern Coaching Telegram group (or via the contact information on the Coaches page) to try to attract a coach, or at least other flyers.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
A £3 fee per glider is payable to the farmer at The Foxhalls which is just below the hill.

About 400m.
 
GRADE OF FLYER
All grades of pilots.
All pilots must be current members of the BHPA or a foreign equivalent that also has valid 3rd party insurance.
 
HAZARDS
Barbed wire fence across the back of the take off area.
 
Rotor from trees at south end, most noticeable when wind is SW.
 
Whole site is noticeably rougher when the wind is W.
 
Much Marcle is an intense military low flying area. If flying midweek then pilots must notify Military Air Traffic on 0800 515544, preferably the previous evening before 9pm. Quote them the grid ref SO630329.
 
 
CAPACITY
1 in scratch conditions 3 if there is good ridge lift.
 
ACCESS
From Much Marcle village take the How Caple road. Take the second right turn onto Lyne Down. Follow brown signs for Marcle Ridge until you see one pointing sharp right, go straight ahead onto a dirt track. You will be able to see the Marcle mast over to the right. The stile into the take off area is about 300metres on the left.
 
PARKING
Park on the grass verge making absolutely sure there is room for large tractors to pass or enter fields.
 
TAKE OFF AREAS
Anywhere along the slope in front of the fence. Set up well down the slope after bringing the glider up walk up the slope to a point were it can lift you off.
